The cabin is situated facing the forest; during the winter views of Lookout Mountain can be seen thru the trees. Have your phone handy for directions as it was a little off the main path and in a different section than the main park. We stayed for 1 night, my wife added this campground to our binder of must stays on the road. We stopped by DeSoto State Park on our way down to Little River Canyon National Preserve in Alabama. About the cabin: Through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) through ADECA and the National Park Service, DeSoto State Park was awarded a grant in 2013 to build a cabin that would provide a primitive camping experience to any adventurous family or guests.
