It’s out of this world! A sun glare streamed through a small cloud break and for a solid fifteen seconds, it shown between the waterfall and the covering trees. I started this bulky journal during my first day living in the mountains of Switzerland so as a romantic gesture to myself, I wanted to complete it in a similar nostalgic state. Wahclella Falls is such a perfect spot for a waterfall elopement and completely stunning backdrop! This time I decided to do a solo hike and going during a weekday (Novembre-2019). I drove ten miles southbound to the trailhead of Angel’s Rest, saw many more hikers than I did at Wahclella, and started my trek.

Like a light switch though, that demeanor switched. A highway patrolman was parked there, taking his lunchbreak, and he told me the Wahclella Trail was definitely closed, along with many of the higher trails, as well as the popular lower Trail #400 through the Oneonta River Gorge.
