McDonough attorney and Henry County magistrate judge Holly Veal was sworn in Nov. 7 as a Superior Court judge for the Flint Judicial Circuit by Gov. She currently oversees the Henry County Adult Felony Drug Court Program, which was designated a statewide model court by the Council of Accountability Court Judges in 2019.

Judge Veal also leads the effort to implement a telecourt, a video-conference court aimed at reducing case backlog and diminishing safety risks for law enforcement officers having to transport inmates from around the state to Henry County. Judge Veal attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, on full merit scholarship and served as a staff member on the school’s Journal of Law, Technology and Policy. Holly Veal is Henry County’s newest Superior Court judge. Veal has been licensed to practice law in Georgia since 2004 and served as a public defender in Albany before working as a prosecutor in Houston, Clayton and Henry counties. She also is spearheading the implementation of a written sexual harassment protocol for the county’s courts.

She earned her from the University of Pittsburgh.
